Tennis Players: 4 Steps To Creating More Power On Your Strokes

Coaches and Tennis Fans,

If you want to create more power on your strokes or simply perfect what you have, you may need to break down the stroke then build it back up. My 13 year old student Jose is seeking more power on his backhand. He has a big forehand and his lack of power on his backhand is leaving him lopsided.

While breaking down his stroke we surmised that Jose ends up with his weight on his back foot. This lack of weight transfer is initiated by not loading from the knees and prohibits a proper follow through.

Create more power on your strokes:

1) Identify the problem
2) Knee bend: Sit in the chair
3) Load, contact , follow through
4) Freeze Frame: Develop muscle memory

Remember – you don’t have to be a pro to train like a pro!
