I see and coach many recreational players who insist on serving from the middle of the court in doubles just because they feel that’s the way easiest way to do it. The problem with that is that 95% of recreational players return cross court which leaves a lot of open court in front of the server.
Here’s a solution — a ‘Piece of Pie’. Envision a piece of pie from the net strap to the center service line on the opponent’s side (watch video). The bigger the pie, the bigger the angle. This gives you a nice focal point for middle serves or at the body serves without getting passed by the cross court return.
